NotesQuak: "John Wanton Governour of the Colony of Rhode Island ageed 68 years and departed this life the 5th day of the 5th month 1740 being the 7th day of the week and the 2d day of the week following he was carried to the Meeting House and after Meeting was buried in Coddington's Buryin place." Richardson sketched his gravestone and noted it was near his daughter Mary Thurston.
