The burial ground was originally located at the location where there is now a tennis court. The gravestones were placed on the ground on a hillside on the south side of Hopkins Ave. Information on missing stones is from G.H. Richardson transcript of 1870, and from a manuscript at the Newport Historical Society titled "List and Location of gravestones in cemetery C. H. I." It was sent to the Society in 1917 by Commander R. Z. Johnson. Each gravestone has a dimension in the burial ground that reads like "4 ft. west side of cemetery, 15 ft. from south side." With these dimensions we can determine that the burial ground was 125 ft. by 50 ft. and contained six rows of gravestones. Coaster's Harbor is where the Naval War College is located. Transcribed and entered by John Sterling (JES). GPS coordinates (WGS84 datum) 41 deg. 30' 28.25N x 71 deg. 19' 37.05"W for the location of the gravestone on the hillside.
