Take Webb Road north from Salisbury Avenue and the cemetery is just beyond where it turns east into Martha Road. This lot contained at one time the oldest inscribed headstone in North Kingstown, 1680. James Arnold recorded this lot May 18, 1880, his #62, "on land of the Hamilton Web Co. in a cedar grove east of the factory is an ancient yard with no protection." When Burgess visited in 1936, he counted 19 fieldstone graves on one of which he discerned 1691, and the letters AR. He said Norman Isham had been told by James Arnold that Ed Early b. 1856 had seen a flat engraved stone when he was a boy. It was later broken up by village boys. Owners say that today only fieldstones remain. Recorded by Althea McAleer, Beatrix Hoffius, and Deby Nunes for a 1992 book on North Kingstown cemeteries.
