650 ft west of Plainfield Pike. Recorded Flora Battey May 1946, Margery Matthews Oct 1981. The granite blocks in the wall of this cemetery were cut in the Oneco, CT quarry. It required 10 yoke of oxen to haul them to the cemetery. Legend has it that Dr. Thomas Carpenter was married 3 times. He was buried with his second and favorite wife and had the walls installed around both his and her graves. It further states that his first and third wives are buried outside the enclosure, one on either side. We dowsed the outsides and got positive readings on the two outsides parallel to the inner graves and no readings on the other two, so there may be some truth to the legend.
