In his will John Tyler mentioned the old burying ground and excepted it in his bequest of land to son Thomas H Tyler. [Foster Probate IX p315 dated 1859]. On March 10, 1867 Thomas H Tyler, George W Rathbun and Matilda Rathbun (dau of Thomas Tyler) deeded land to Casey H Tyler that adjoined the old burying ground and lay west of the Tyler Bridge. Casey platted lots and sold to families in Moosup Valley. The middle section is all Tyler and relations. The west section was an additional strip of land purchased by Otis Foster from George W Rathbun et all on 16 Aug 1872 (BK14Pg294 An older Foster cemetery was on the south side of Moosup Valley Rd in the meadow opposite the cemetery. These graves were moved from there to the newer Otis Foster lot. There are references in deeds to the old Foster cemetery - Bk14 Pg261 & mortgage Bk1 Pg155 - in 1871 deeds between Otis & Susan Foster and Douglas Blanchardin which the "burying ground now walled in, with privilege to pass & repass" was reserved. Cemetery was recorded by Margery Matthews in 1976 and 1988. It was compared with Arnold’s Records recorded by Grace G. Tillinghast in 1932 and the west section recorded by Flora Battey in Oct. 1947.
