CommentThis is one of the three cemeteries commonly called Knotty Oak. It is located 20 feet south of Washington Street (Route #117) just west of the intersection with Route #116, opposite Woodland Cemetery (CY066), and next to Pine Grove Cemetery (CY030). It contains about 2000 burials with 1495 inscriptions. There are 40 Civil War veterans in this cemetery identified on their gravestones and probably more who are not identified. James Arnold visited this cemetery on November 21, 1904, (Vol. 6, Book 17, p. 463) and on November 29, 1905, (Vol. 6, Book D, page 508), “At Knotty Oak east of end beside the N.Y. N.H. & H.R.R. track, are a number of burial lots. We commence with that of the Manchester lot at the north part of the burial lots. This part of the lots are some neglected as are also the fact with some of those to the south.” This cemetery was also recorded in 1985 by Amelia K. Whitford. Section A, next to the road, is surrounded by granite posts and iron rails. Recorded by Dr. Bill Eddleman and John Sterling for a 1998 book on Coventry cemeteries
