NotesThis crudely inscribed fieldstone was removed to the RI Historical Society and a slate stone 25" by 14" was put in its place. This stone is engraved "Here lieth the bodie of Sara Tefft interred March 16, 1842 in the 67th year of her age. The above is a copy from the original stone taken from this spot and deposited with RIHS. Erected 1868 by Rufus Greene." It is believed that this replacement stone inscription is incorrect as the Warwick town records show Sara Tefft died in childbirth in 1672.
