See the essay "A Murder, So Vile (or was it?)" in John T. Pierce Sr.'s "Historical Tracts of the Town of Portsmouth, Rhode Island," Portsmouth, RI, 1991, pp. 61-62 for more details of her death. Her son Thomas was convicted of her murder and hanged.
