CommentRev. Frederic Denison recorded this lot 1867-8: "About thirty rods south of the post-road, and one third of a mile west of the residence of Sidney Gavitt, unenclosed, in the corner of a meadow, are the unlettered graves of Capt. Samuel Allen and his wife, and members of his family, - about a dozen graves. The land now belongs to Saunders Gavitt."
