Comment | The Joseph Bennett Lot is located 30 ft west of White Acorn Circle at telephone pole #2. It is 180 ft x 90 ft, in fair condition, enclosed with a metal rail fence, with an iron gate. It contains 48 burials with 39 inscriptions. Marker #6 is an unusual sandstone tomb with a marble monument on top. It is on the tax assessor’s map, Plat #268, Lot #407.
James Arnold visited this lot 27 Sept. 1891 and noted, “On the Bennett farm northwest from Greenwood Section, east of the house, iron fence with granite posts, fair condition. Behind old Bennett farm house on Spooner Drive” (Vol. 4, p. 154). Charles and Martha Benns recorded this lot in 1935, their #437.
Recorded by John Sterling for a book on Warwick cemeteries. |
