CommentThis cemetery has not been found. Date of Arnold’s visit: 20 Oct. 1880 His number: #206 Arnold’s comments: “On land of Samuel Allen east of his house beside wall, otherwise unprotected.” He found the slate stone below, three large rude stone graves, and 14 small rude stone graves. Our comments: Daniel Stedman noted in his journal: “June 19th 1846 died wife of Mr. John Whaley, Rocky Brook, and buried on the 20th at Sam Allen’s burying place.” The 1857 Walling map shows an S. Allen about where the New St. Francis Cemetery is located today. Arnold recorded the Brown Chapel lot (SK 143), then the Gould lot (SK 35), then the Cottrell lot (SK 107) on Oct. 20, 1880 before visiting this lot. Samuel Allen (1790c-1871) and his wife Hannah (1789c-1876) are buried in Riverside Cemetery (SK 43) in section D. This is an indication that this cemetery no longer exists. Formerly known as SK 503.
