CommentThis cemetery is located 1950 feet north of Route #138 at telephone pole #3083 / 10. Follow the cart path at a break in guard rail at telephone pole #3083 / 100 for two thousand feet (0.38 mile) north to this cemetery. It is outside the south wall of SK 123. It is forty feet square, in fair condition, with no enclosure and no historical cemetery sign. There are 23 burials with one inscribed stones and 22 fieldstones. James N. Arnold recorded this lot Feb. 27, 1880, his #40. His notes are unusually extensive: On land of Robert F. Noyes now occupied by his heirs a short distance north from his house is an old Gardiner burial yard in lot unprotected. There are we are informed the remains of Caleb Gardiner the first settler of this tract, also his wife and his children and relatives. We counted 14 graves and 3 or 4 small ones in the Gardiner plot and separated by a space we find 3 large graves and 1 small one perhaps some relatives of the family, also one outside possibly a friend. Sarah Fellows was a sister of Caleb Gardiner who sold this farm to Mr. Noyes. The three children buried here who were tenants of the farm and were no relatives of the Gardiners but were permitted to bury here by them and Mr. Noyes. Found, registered, and recorded by John Sterling & James Wheaton for a 2004 book on South Kingstown cemeteries.
