CommentThis cemetery is on the west side of South Road opposite Allens Avenue at telephone pole #41 and just north of the house at #552 South Road. It is about forty by fifty feet, in poor condition, enclosed with a stone wall, with the gate missing. There is no historical cemetery sign. James N. Arnold visited this lot Oct. 20, 1880, his #202, “in church yard of the colored church south of Curtis Corner, lot walled but in poor condition.” He counted 56 burials with nineteen inscribed stones and 37 fieldstones In 1993 two marble stones, two crudely inscribed fieldstones and 14 unmarked fieldstones were found. It appears some have been removed. The Pettaquamscutt Society project found ten gravestones in 1978. Found, registered, and recorded by John Sterling & James Wheaton for a 2004 book on South Kingstown cemeteries.
