CommentThis cemetery is located 380 feet north of Hundred Acres Pond Road. Drive to end of the road (north end of Hundred Acre Pond), and the cemetery is 380 feet from the last driveway entrance. Walk down drive until reaching a stone wall on the left. Follow the stone wall north about three hundred feet to the cemetery. It is 35 feet x 80 feet, in fair condition, enclosed with a stone wall. There is no historical cemetery sign. There are 25 burials, nine marked with inscribed stones and sixteen marked with plain fieldstones James N. Arnold visited this lot Feb. 26, 1880, his #31, “the old Underwood burial ground on brow of hill a short distance east of Barber’s Pond on land now owned by Benjamin Watson, being the same farm containing yards mentioned on proceeding page [Old Sherman Burial Grounds SKA4 formerly known as SK507] Here were buried the first Underwood who settled upon land in Kingston purchasing of whom not now known.” Found, registered, and recorded by John Sterling & James Wheaton for a 2004 book on South Kingstown cemeteries.
