CommentThis cemetery is located 150 feet north of Cardinal Lane behind #46 Cardinal Lane. It is on the south slope of the knoll while SK086 is on the top. It is sixty feet square, in fair condition, with no enclosure; the historical cemetery sign in good condition. James N. Arnold counted 110 fieldstone graves in 1880, but in 2003 the cemetery was heavily overgrown with briars and we could not see more than thirty or forty. James N. Arnold visited this lot 5 Oct 1880, his #120, “here are found a large number of graves buried without much order and marked with rude stones. We counted these as well as we could and found 49 large and 61 small graves.” William Sweet identified this cemetery as containing victims of a small pox epidemic around 1757. Found, registered, and recorded by John Sterling & James Wheaton for a 2004 book on South Kingstown cemeteries.
