Comment | This cemetery is located 1,650 feet south of Gravelly Hill Road at telephone pole #21½. Follow the driveway to #480 Gravelley Hill Road 1,650 feet to the barn (before coming to the house). The cemetery is one hundred feet northeast of the barn. It is 50 feet x 75 feet, in fair condition, enclosed with a stone wall, and the historical cemetery sign is missing. There is a rough stone wall on the east side and down the middle. It contains eleven burials with seven inscribed stones.
James N. Arnold recorded this lot Oct. 7, 1880, his #147, “on land of John Larkin back of his house in a corner of lot no protection a burial yard.” It was recorded again in the 1930s by Mrs. Louis E. Card who found it on the Dr. J. P. Jones farm. Her transcript is in the Knight Library in Providence.
Found, registered, and recorded by John Sterling & James Wheaton for a 2004 book on South Kingstown cemeteries. |
