This cemetery is located 340 feet west of Ministerial Road at telephone pole #88 just south of Curtis Corner Road and east of Worden Pond. It is beside the driveway to #1852 Ministerial Road on the south side between the drive and a stone wall 340 feet from Ministerial Road. It was probably wider at one time and then cut down in size by the driveway. Since James N. Arnold did not record this lot in 1880, we have no earlier knowledge of it. It is now seventy feet long and six feet wide, in fair condition, with no enclosure other than a stone wall on the south side. There is no historical cemetery sign. In 2003 we counted three fieldstone-marked graves, two of which are crudely inscribed. Bill Sweet’s notes indicate that Major Ebenezer Brenton who died in South Kingstown in 1766 left this land to his daughter Ann and her husband Martin Howard Jr. Ebenezer Brenton was the grandson of Gov. William Brenton. This and the fact that one crude fieldstone reads “S. B.” leads to the somewhat tenuous theory that this is a Brenton burial ground. Found, registered, and recorded by John Sterling & James Wheaton for a 2004 book on South Kingstown cemeteries.
