This cemetery is south of Saugatucket Road at Broad Rock Road at telephone pole #3583. It is at the intersection of stones walls from each road and adjacent to the power lines. It is also east of pole #5113 on Broad Rock Road. There were at one time as many as 25 burials here. This may be the last cemetery in South Kingstown visited by James N. Arnold. Unfortunately he did not visit any other cemeteries that day so there are no clues to his location and no inscribed gravestones to positively identify the cemetery. Arnold visited on May 14, 1881, his #290, “on land of Joseph Gardiner back of his house in corner of lot, graves marked with rude stones only. Mr. Gardiner states that once there were as many as twenty or twenty-five graves. If so, the marks of some have become obliterated. Several members of the Oatley family are buried here among others.” The Pettaquamscutt Historical Society visited this lot in 1979 and noted no stones but evidence of two graves. They also identified the early inhabitants of this tract of land as the Oatleys. Recorded by John Sterling and James Wheaton for a 2004 book on South Kingstown cemeteries.
