CommentThis burial ground is located ten feet south of Gooseberry Road at telephone pole # 13, diagonally across the road from SK050, in front of #135 Gooseberry Road. It is twenty by thirty feet, in good condition, enclosed with granite posts and iron rails, and the historical cemetery sign is missing. It contains eight burials, all marked by fieldstones. James N. Arnold visited this lot Oct. 16, 1880, his #186, “a short distance northwest from here [SK 50] another yard containing 3 large and 5 small graves, granite posts and iron rails. The three large graves are those of Daniel Carpenter, his wife who was a Rodman, and Renewed Carpenter, a lady who died aged.” It is only by this documentation by James N. Arnold, probably related to him by the land owner, that we know who is buried here. Recorded by John Sterling and James Wheaton for a 2004 book on South Kingstown cemeteries.
