CommentThis cemetery is located fifteen feet south of Liberty Lane in the section east of the railroad tracks, at telephone pole # 5455. It is forty feet by sixty feet, in fair condition, enclosed with granite posts with an iron gate, and the historical cemetery sign is in good condition. The granite posts still have rusted metal hooks that once held wooden slats. Some slats can still be seen in the southwest corner. Remnants of a once beautiful cast iron Victorian gate remain. It contains eight burials marked by seven inscribed stones and one fieldstone. One interment was removed to Wakefield. James N. Arnold recorded this lot Feb. 24, 1880, his #15, “a burial yard of the Sherman family on south side of road a short distance southeast from the new depot at Kingston, lot fenced in with a good board fence.” Recorded by John Sterling and James Wheaton for a 2004 book on South Kingstown cemeteries.
