CommentThis was a series of small family plots located at Rockland that had to be moved to make way for the reservoir. Most were moved to Rockland Cemetery but some were moved to Cranston, Foster, Gloucester, Providence and to other Scituate cemeteries. James N Arnold recorded this cemetery 27-28 Sep 1904 (Vol 3, Pg 124) before it was moved to make way for the reservoir. He described it as: At Rockland between the power station of the trolly line and the road are several lots. - nearly opposite the school house is one grave without protection - beside the road fenced but now down one grave not marked and quite a space one - the next lot has granite posts and iron rods in excellent order -in southwest corner one grave not marked, in northwest two graves the same after stone #8 -other 2 in this lot not marked -The next lot north & Adjoining is protected by franite posts and iron chains on 3 sides where not protected by above. Outside at northwest corner a small grave fenced but not marked. after stone #10 -The other small grave in this lot is not marked as yet. -The next lot east has 1 large and to right a space 2 small. At feet a space of these 1 large grave with 2 small on each side. There are recent, all have not been marked as yet. -In the lot beside the road a granite monument with globe on top, yard in fine order protected by granite posts and iron rods. after #13 -The lot south of this has granite posts and iron rods on 3 sides, wall south. after #16 -Next lot back has 2 graves in a corner not marked lot some neglected. -This lot is well walled and kept in good order, one corner has been extended and enclosed by a bank wall with iron posts and chains. after #17 -Next 2 graves right have field markers. after #104 -In the following lots some have let the wild grass grow, in one instance a few brush, protected along the road by a picket fence in fine order, by wall west and granite posts and iron rods east and north by the protection of other lots. after #208 -The following lot has iron posts and chains, the posts on granite base, fenced on north side with pickets evergreens within the fence and lot in excellent condition. after #219 -The next lot is in excellent order protected north and south by granite posts and iron chains, west by trim posts on granite base. after #237 -This lot has granite posts and iron rods east and west, bank wall north and south, yard in fine order. after #258 -This lot protected by granite posts and iron rods 5 or 6 stubs are driven for graves, probably whither stones are to be set for burials we know not, yard in fine order. after #259 -This lot in fine order bank wall on road, granite posts and iron rods on the west and partly northeast side open. after #268 -The next yard east is much overgrown with ferns, the most neglected yard in this cemetery. End at the corner of the roads. after #288 -This lot protected by granite posts & iron rods, yard some neglected.
