CommentWas Johnston until 1898 - Plainfield St. It is near Pocasset Pond, that is in the Silver Lake area in Providence at the left on the entrance road (off Plainfield St.) to the old Almacs building (now a flea market). Recorded about 1860 by Frank Williamson "near Silver Lake" (in Arnold collection) James N. Arnold recorded this lot his #2 in his Johnston book - Oct. 25, 1890 (Bk. 1, pg. 33). “In lot at head of Pocasset Pond on knoll which no doubt will be in a few more years removed, we find a burial lot utterly unprotected and badly neglected.” Recorded by Grace G. Tillinghast 1932 "On hill between Grand Trunk RR and Plainfield St. opposite Neutakonicut Hill just as you turn to go south" (in Arnold collection) she found 12 stones Charles & Martha Benns #171 [1933] "Silver Lake opposite Mercy & Sanford St." They found only 5 stones Plat 110 lot 149 across the street from #700 Plainfield St.-raised area with trees, bases still there but no stones standing, some (maybe 20) down. Carmine DeBiasio has lived there all his life (since 1927) 944-3333. The stones are almost totally obliterated and part of the knoll was dug into and destroyed in the mid-20th century. Some of the remains are still in place.
