CommentLocated 125 feet south of Lawrence Drive and 25 feet west of Gideon Lawton Lane, behind #243 Lawrence Drive. All stones have surname LAWTON. Although the resurvey found it in very good condition in 1970, Patricia Bodine found this lot overgrown and filled with broken stones when she recorded it for CETA 3 Mar. 1976. One stone was signed "Hathaways Taunton." She cited Mr. E. Newton Lawton, Russell Ave.,Newport, 401/847-4433 as someone who had further information about the lot. This is probably the Lawton lot for which Deacon Gideon Lawton left $300 in 1873 will (Elva Lawton, "Descendants of George Lawton of Portsmouth, Rhode Island," 1977, typescript at NEHGS, p. 14). Recorded by Ian Kohl (IK) in 1989, then in good condition.
