First recorded in "Rhode Island Tombstone Inscriptions," circa 1900, at RIH (ANON). The author called it "The Old Brownell & Willcox Cemetery on the Baker Farm now owned by Benjamin Hally Jr. At the Coal Mines, Portsmouth." He copied 14 stones. CETA transcribers Patricia Bodine and Denise Johnson visited this cemetery 27 Oct. 1975 and found 8 gravestones lying under the branches of a large apple tree which stood alone in the field. They described some interesting slate stones, including one perhaps used for practice carving. Clearly the legibility had declined seriously between the two transcriptions, in addition to the 5 stones for members of the WILCOCKS family that had completely disappeared. Much detail comes only from ANON. In 1989 Ian Kohl (IK) found 8 stones, 7 of which could be read. Several down, others propped against trees.
