We only know about this burial ground by the ledger stone for Samuel Carr and his daughter that is leaning against the side wall of the Newport Historical Society and by the George Richardson transcript of 1894. He notes: "North end of torpedo station - Goat Island … the father and daughter died of small pox which was quite prevalent at Newport at this time (1739)."
