CommentThis cemetery name and number is being given to that remaining area which does not include Old Aldrich Burial Ground (NS031), Old Town Burial Ground (NS036), or Union Cemetery proper (NS007). The Superintendent of Union Cemetery in discussions with Roger Beaudry and Paul Delisle has stated that this area does not belong to the Union Cemetery Corporation. They maintain a lot in this cemetery as well as one in the Old Aldrich Cemetery, only because of perpetual care agreements which pre-date his tenure as Superintendent. The town records also show this section being owned by Union Cemetery. Anyone who plans to do any research in this cemetery should also look at "Old Town" & "Old Aldrich" since it is almost impossible to tell which stones belong to which cemetery. This "Annex" consists of row upon row of stones with only a few family plots. As with "Old Town" & "Old Aldrich" I have attempted to place stones mentioned in previous surveys but which no longer exist in their proper cemetery. The few family plots which exist are broken down as follows: Section "A"-Open with no visible borders. It is maintained by Union Cemetery. Cemetery records refer to this lot as the "John White Lot." Section "B"-Granite corner markers, raised, and broken into four sections. Section "C"-Setoff by low granite corner markers. Section "D"-Open area between sections "C" & "E". Section "E"-Surrounded by granite posts with no rails. Section "F"-Surrounded by granite posts with no rails. Section "G"-Open area after Section "F". Transcribed by Roger Beaudry in Fall and early winter 1992 Charles & Martha Benns mention a few stones under #230, Vol IV page 69. Transcribed by Ethel M White who described it as: "Aldrich Cemetery near Union Cemetery, N Smithfield" Transcribed by Ron Farrar circa 1970, "Quaker Cemetery, 146A"
