CommentIn deep woods about 1/2 mile behind 145 Pendar Rd. Two old stone gateposts, one dated 1802, lead to path. Ask permission of resident to go through land, and for direction. Can also be reached from the northern end of Finch Lane. It is 760 feet NW of the end of the road. Burial lot is neglected; remains of old wire enclosure. Not in Benns, or Burgess. James Arnold visited this yard 25 July 1880, his #66, "on land of James Burlingame, south of his house (foundation noted in 1991) on knoll is a burial yard of the former owner of this property fenced with pickets in good order." At that time he listed two graves with rude stones at the foot of Abbie's grave: William Hammond and his daughter. Huldah lay at the foot of these, and beside this another child of the same parents. Recorded by Althea McAleer, Beatrix Hoffius, and Deby Nunes for a 1992 book on North Kingstown cemeteries.
