Comment | Off Post Rd, east side of Railroad track. Enter from Austin Rd. Walk through left side of golf driving range to embankment along RR tracks. Burial ground, perched on bank, is hidden by brush, about 150' from Post Rd. overpass. Partly enclosed by crumbling stone wall. Neglected, overgrown.
This yard was recorded by Arnold August 1, 1883, his #174, located "on land of Fones Austin on the north side of the road and close to the railroad bridge, a fones burial yard."
This cemetery was restored by Fannin-Lehner of Concord, Mass in 1997. Three broken gravestones were repaired and all stones were reset. Extensive probing was done to locate the John Goddard Brown and the L. H. stones without success.
Recorded by Althea McAleer, Beatrix Hoffius, and Deby Nunes for a 1992 book on North Kingstown cemeteries. |
