James N. Arnold recorded this lot 67) – May 17, 1891. (Bk. 2, pg. 162) (Unknown). “About 40 rods or more from the Shunpike north side and west of the (either south or north?) bank of the Pocasset river a burial lot in the woods much overgrown with _____? Of about a dozen graves. We understand those of people of color – marked by rude stones only.” Note: someone has written in in ballpoint pen: “Probably the Lewis family which held property in this area.”
