CommentLocated 860 feet south of Pine Hill Road and 235 feet south of the end of Cedar Grove Court. James N. Arnold recorded this lot his #60 May 10, 1891. (Bk. 2, pg. 103) (Obliterated. We were told that the grandchildren of Hezekiah were moved to Pocasset Cemetery in 1889). “On the south side of the Central Pike on farm of Benoni Mathewson east of the village of Hughesdale and near the crossing of the Borden lane road There was a burial lot which Mr. Mathewson plowed down a few years ago. We are told Mr. Hezekiah Smith son of Edward of North Providence was buried here with those of his family & relatives.” James Arnold states that Hezekiah Smith and his family were buried in this cemetery and that Benoni Mathewson plowed this cemetery under a few years previous Arnold's visit in 1891. Hezekiah Smith's grandchildren were moved to Pocasset Cemetery from Johnston on September 30, 1889, thus it is assumed that they came from this cemetery. The house standing at 272 Central Avenue was the house of Hezekiah Smith and later his daughter Caroline F. Whitman.
