James N. Arnold recorded this lot 2:87, 10 May 1891. On the east side of the road leading from Hughesdale north to Pocasset and in sight of the road on the asylum farm a lot fenced and in good order. The town, we understand, have buried the poor in this enclosure. Perhaps the older graves were those of Mr. Williams family and connections. We should say there was about 60 interments in this yard. On the only inscribed stone we read the following. Benns #118; Arnold pg 4, 23 Aug 1925: On the old town farm opposite the town house on edge of woods, there is a burial of the Waterman family It was located on the north side of Atwood Ave. (2011) at the site now approximately where the Taco Bell restaurant was recently built. The lot was probably destroyed in the 1950s or early 1960s.
