This cemetery is 2200 north of Greenville Ave. and 220 feet west of Interstate #295. It can be reached from the parking lot of the Greater RI Baptist Temple. It is 1100 feet north of the temple parking lot, at the edge of the gravel pit. In 2020 JN069 is now located on the grounds of the Citizens Bank Johnston Campus. James N. Arnold recorded this lot 48) – April 19, 1891. (Bk. 2, pg. 27) (JN069). “The Belknap burial yard.” “Some distance from the road leading from the old Killingly road to Graniteville and also some distance from the aforesaid Killingly road on a level, a burial yard of the Belknap family lot protected by granite posts and iron rails in good order.” The two oldest gravestones in Johnston are located in this cemetery. They are for Ruth Clemence 1750 and Olive Belknap 1750. They were carved by John Anthony Angel. In Providence. Unfortunately the Ruth Clemence gravestone was smashed in 2016 by vandals riding dirt bikes through this cemetery. These two gravestone have since been removed to the Johnston Historical Society for repair and safe keeping. A decision will be made later on whether to return them to the cemetery, possibly after a bank is built on the property.
