This cemetery was on east side of Pontiac Ave. across from the power plant. It was removed to make way for an industrial park in June of 1975. (see ProJo 5 June 1975) Approximately 350 burials were removed. The state has some pictures of the removal including a picture of coffin plates #2211 & 2260 dated 1948 and 1949. The records for burials after 1927 were not found at the institutions at Howard which includes this cemetery. In use from 1940 through 1952, further burials for indigents took place at the North Burial Ground, Providence, RI. Formerly located on east side of Pontiac Ave. Removed to RI Historical CR061 (State Institution No. 2) by the Howard Industrial Complex - RI Dept. Of Economic Development in June of 1975. The remains of 577 persons were moved and buried in a mass grave, the memorial to this action is located at RI Historical CR061. (State Institution No. 2)
