Notes
'He was a member of Co. B Fourth/Reg. R.I. Infantry'. Per Peter Sarazin, this stone is a cenotaph. Jonathan Card died of typhoid at a hospital on Roanoke Island and is buried in Section 11, Plot 1880 at New Bern National Cemetery in North Carolina. A military stone is present there with the inscription, "Jonathan Card, Drummer, 4 R.I.INF." His name is also engraved on the 1871 Providence Soldiers & Sailors Monument located at Kennedy Plaza, Providence, Rhode Island.
