"wounded at Antietam 16 Sep 1862; died 30 Sep 1862 at Sharpsburg, MD". "Held a high and honorable position in his native town. On the breaking out of the Rebellion Mr. Rodman tendered his services to his country and was commissioned as a Capt. by Gov Sprague. For his bravery at the Battle of Bull Run he was appointed Lieut Col and soon after Col of the 4th RI Vols. He again distinguished himself at the Battle of Roanoke and New Bern, NC at the latter leading his Reg't which stormed the enemy's works and captured two of his batteries. He again served with honor at the reduction of Fort Mason. On the 30th of April 1862 he was appointed Brig Gen. While leading a Div at the Battle of Antietam received a mortal wound." died: SHARPSBURG MD
