"He was a member of Battery A, 1st RI, 1st Art and had served two years when captured at the Battle of Bemis Station, VA Aug 23, 1864. After enduring the hardships of 5 months imprisonment at Salisbury, NC, he died on his way home and was buried in Danville, VA. A grateful country will know its defenders."
