Notes
[Although no other Brightman stones have been found, this was an established Portsmouth family. Portsmouth VRs show that Mercy SPURR of Taunton m. William BRIGHTMAN of Portsmouth 22 Jan. 1708/9, probably son of Henry and Joan. Births of seven children were registered between 1709/10 and 1720, and three of these were themselves married in Portsmouth.]
