Notesenter the army in as a Lieutenant in the Rev. War in 20th year of age and statione at Roxbury. When the British left Boston he marched with the army to New York. He was in the Battle of Long Island and in the retreat through the Jerseys. He was promoted to Captain. When Cornwallis was ravaging Virginia a detatchment under the Marquis LaFayette marched to oppose him and Capt Olney's company was part of it. Cornwallis eventuall surrendered at Yorktown. [SAR: 1775 in 2d RI Reg't; 1776 1st Lieut in 11th Continental Infantry; 1777 Capt. in 11th Continental Infantry; 1778-1780 same, wounded at Springfield June 22d; 1781 wounded at Yorktown; pension file #S46399]
