Notes"He was twenty times elected a Representative from Smithfield to the General Assembly of this state and twice a member of the Senate. He was town clerk of Smithfield 23 years in succession. He was Associate Justice of the Court of Common Pleas for Providence County 16 years and Chief Justice of the same court 11 years. He held places of trust through nearly the whole of a long life."
