CommentIn January 1966 this cemetery was removed from its original location on the north side of East Avenue in Natick, to Greenwood Cemetery (CY059) in Coventry. It is located on the southeast corner of Greenwood. The original cemetery contained 35 burials with 23 inscribed stones and 12 fieldstones. James Arnold visited this lot 18 Sept. 1893 and noted, “on the Deacon Bowen farm west of his house, lot walled in good order and lot in fair condition” (Vol. 2, p. 450). Charles and Martha Benns recorded this lot in 1934, their #277, “near Natick, on Col. Webster Knight estate.” The DAR recorded this cemetery in November 1965. They commented: “This cemetery is located off East Avenue, Natick on the old Deacon Bowen Farm, later owned by Webster Knight. The cemetery is to be removed to make room for a Sears Roebuck Store” (DAR Blue Book 1965). The map numbers have been developed from the transcript done by Arnold in 1893 when the cemetery was in its original location. The map numbers were modified to include interments made since 1893. Recorded by John Sterling for a book on Warwick cemeteries.
