CommentThis cemetery was originally located in Hills Grove, 150 ft west of Blackburn Street at telephone pole #7; on the tax assessor’s map, Plat #301, Lot #483, now (1995) the site of the United Parcel Service terminal. It was removed in June of 1971 to the old section of Pawtuxet Memorial Park, near the Arnold Cemetery, WK005. It contained 25 burials with six marble stones ans 18 fieldstones. James Arnold visited the lot in its original location 27 Sept. 1891 and commented, “on the Battey farm north of Hills Grove well walled, neglected” (Vol. 3, p. 197). The stones have been set up in their new location in two rows. The top of the General William Battey stone is in position 4 while the bottom is in position 2 and the footstone is in position 9. Other footstones are also mixed in. Recorded by John Sterling for a book on Warwick cemeteries.
