James Arnold recorded this tomb 9 Apr 1903 (Vol 2, Pg 1) In the Butler tomb on the Central Pike and west of the village of Saundersville we find the two following dark slate stones in the said tomb. The door of the said tomb has fallen in and the tomb is in a shocking condition. Again on Sept. 5, 2004 - The Butler tomb on the Saundersville Pike about a mile west of the village beside the road the tomb is in bad order, open door. A portion of the interments have been taken away but a part were left and vandals have opened the caskets and scattered the bones about the floor. We understand Capt. Butler removed his family to Pawtuxet but a later generation have removed them to Swan Point. There are two memorials here in the tomb. Reservoir parcel #771, not on maps.
