Samuel was NOT a Veteran of the Civil War. He was, however, a US Army Veteran. Samuel Reynolds enlisted in the U.S. Army on April 19, 1817 as a Private in the 6th Infantry, Company F under the command of Capt. T. M. Read, stationed at Rouses Point on Lake Champlain. According to the US Army Register of Enlistments, Samuel Reynolds deserted from Rouses Point, NY August 3, 1818.
